Mass adoption through massive value.
Hello Monster is here to turn around the web3 gaming model to on-board them all.
“Let’s build a great game first” - Vicen Gómez, CEO of Hello Monster.
Gaming is a hit driven business. If you look into the history of gaming, successful companies are built on top of a great product.
Valve created Steam on the shoulders of Counter Strike, Riot Games has built a whole universe through League of Legends, Epic Games developed technology that redefined game development thanks to Unreal, and later, changed the concept of gaming IP and UGC possibilities under the massive success of Fortnite.
To be successful, technology and disruptive gaming models always need to have a purpose and ultimately, improve the gaming experience. You need to do everything with the player in mind.
Now look at the short but turbulent history of web3 games. With few exceptions, most of them have failed, because technology and game models were not built on top of a successful product with the player in mind – it did not improve the gaming experience.
Our Vision is to remove the line that separates web2 from web3, making the players feel that they are experiencing something better that they could not do before.
To achieve this, you have to show it to them - not tell them. By earning their trust and providing value and solving real needs, everyone will understand the possibilities that blockchain unlocks.
Web3 has the potential to make games great and, for this, we need a great game first.
So we decided to go a little bit different the path we were observing. Born during the bear market but with crypto in our roadmap, we focused all our efforts in creating a great product first, and then aplying the tech to make it even better.
This is how Wonder Wars was born - our first game. Still in soft launch, it has over 50.000 downloads and over 5.000 MAUs.
This initial success is aligned with our approach to game development: instead of product market fit, we decided to create what we called “community product fit”.
We built a game that caters to the needs of the potential users by building in public, getting feedback and iterating fast. This is why we decided to have Alvaro845 as a founder. He is one of the biggest mobile games content creators in the world (https://www.youtube.com/@TheAlvaro845) and is the creator of Team Queso, a mobile game first esports team that won the Clash Royale World Finals on 2020.
We created something the audience likes and we connect with them through someone they trust. And we have barely scratched the surface...
HELLO MONSTER: CREATING A WEB3 ECOSYSTEM
Games go beyond just the time you spend actually playing. Games are a life style and brands that transcend screens. We are creating an ecosystem, strong IPs connected through blockchain merging the real world and the digital one.
Why did we decide to go with web3?
Because as gamers we saw that it covered needs that we experienced playing different games. We are all about ownership and fostering collecting, trading and monetizing your time inside the games with an official platform to do so - instead of being forced to do it through unofficial or shady pages.
Digital ownership and enabling UGC to grow massively, that’s it - and executing it without friction.
We are obsessed with utility.
→ Making you the real owner:
We are granting real ownership to players of the items, characters and other assets from the Hello Monster universe and all its games.
Let’s use a real example: you have more time than me and were able to max out Hallür (our brave viking), this means that his appearance has changed and looks cooler and the stats have been improved, making your strategy better.
Does this mean you’ll be able to win a match just by having him? No, but your deck will fit your strategy better - the rest is up to you and your ability.
We like to use the example of FC (ex FIFA). Having Mbappe in your team is awesome, you can legally get him playing, but you cannot buy him or sell him - resulting in a secondary (and forbidden) market of FIFA coins; why make it difficult if it is a real need? Players find ways for needs to be solved.
Having Mbappe in the team is not going to win you a match, but you squad becomes better (looks cooler) - and the one that got Mbappe can make profit putting him in the market.
Everyone is happy and we create a platform that supports this.
→ Developing the ecosystem:
To create an ecosystem is to develop a world of opportunities, where there can be several types of players and profiles, which interact with each other according to their needs, tastes and forms of expression. Being an owner means nothing if what you own is not useful, for you or for others.
In the Hello Monster ecosystem and all its products, some skins and items will grant access to exclusive events, you decide if you use it or want to trade them.
Again, let’s use an example: The Travis Scott Fornite Show. Imagine that to be able to access it you’d need a special item that only dropped for a couple of days or if you completed some tasks.
Maybe you did not have the time to get the item - or, even, a Travis Scott Fan wants to attend but didn’t play the game before. You could find in the market some of this items to access from people that are not that interested in Travis Scott or happen to have a couple of them. Again, we are solving a need and facilitating the transactions between players.
Also, we want to give back to the people that has been here from the begining, are loyal to the game... etc.
Álvaro, one of the founders is a hardcore COD player. When Warzone came out, he couln’t help but think about all the emblems and titles he managed to get on MW2 over 15 years ago, and how could it be to show everyone that he was there from the begining. Or, even more, getting special discounts in the store or accessing Special Events. With digital ownership you can do this.
Imagine you have an item or a PFP from founders season, you could access different perks... Or sell it in the market if you preffer.
Tournaments is pretty straight forward. As a competitive game, we want to make it accessible to organize, enter, compete and earn. Instead of capping the competitive ecosystem, we are opening the doors for everyone.
→ As gamers, Community and creators are key:
The community is a very important part in the development of the ecosystem, we consider everyone who contributes to the game, in any way, as a creator, a person who is able to generate new items, knowledge, experiences and value for others.
For smaller creators is very hard to monetize their time and skills inside the gaming world, you rely on third parties to do so. In our vision creators can have a direct relationship with their community or the market without depending on third party you could monetize it directly with you audience and the players without middlemen.
For big creators, this is a way to directly connect with and monetize their huge audiences.
SO... MASS ADOPTION THROUGH MASSIVE VALUE
We are going to onboard million of players in to web3. The tech and market will evolve, but a great product serves as strong foundations to keep evolving with it.
Obsession about solving needs and making the gaming experience better, building in public and making it frictionless through abstraction for the players is how we earn the trust of the players. We show them why is better instead of just promising.
We are living a complete change of the industry, web3 is revolutionizing the world and in gaming fits perfect. It will make games better.
We are going to achieve mass adoption through massive value.
